autocad wont stay in world!?

hey guys ive been having this annoying problem hopefully someone gere can answer my question. anytime i have adrawing open then open a new drawing after i close one of them the other is just blank, so i have to type in plan then world and that fixes it but it gets annoying when i have to keep switching between drawings. also thers a lil toolbar in the top right corner with zoom zoom extents etc.. does anyone kno what its called or how to toggle it on and off?

Do you have an ACADDOC.LSP file in the AutoCAD search path?
It would appear you have a lisp routine or add-on or customization that, on opening a new drawing, runs a bunch of settings including flipping your UCS/PLAN setting.
