If I use the 'X' at the top right hand corner, it sometimes justs exits without asking to save. If I use the file menu, it always saves. I know, just use the file menu. Just sometimes forget when I have a couple draiwngs open. anyone else notice this?

If the drawing has not been changed since the last save, AutoCad will not prompt you to save the drawing.  I have had 3 or more drawings open, when I close AutoCad, for drawings unchanged since the last save are closed without prompting.  Drawings with changes I am prompted to save prior to closing the drawing.

Are you running an add-on? This comes up often with add-ons, if the above condition described above is no the issue.

No, it doesnt save even if changes have been done when I use the 'X' upper left hand corner. Actually, it sometimes does, but if I dont use the drawing for say 10-20 mins, then close out using the X, it doenst ask to save. Is there some timer for drawings and the use?

Start AutoCAD, hit F2 and see what loads at startup.
