at best, your'e probably only going to hear that Acad 2012 is not supported on Win8.1

If you want to stick with autoCAD, you'll need to upgrade to 2014.  Upgrade pricing is still available for 2012 AFAIK, but that will end sometime

...or downgrade your O/S, or search for workarounds that others may have been successful with.

Argh, I'm having the same problem.  Windows OS updated from 8.0 to 8.1 and now acad starts, flashes a blank template than automatically closes.  I have downloaded all the available service packs, updates, and hot fixes-rebooted my machine and now my full Autocad/Revit/Architecture software is completely useless.

My reward for several wasted hours trying to work around this issue is being forced tobuy in a new version of autocade I don't need and can't afford at the moment.

Anybody have a suggestion on how to work around this situation without undo Windows O/S?

Please, please, please I'm desperate.

Uninstall the 8.1 update and turn off Windows automatic updates forever. Reinstall the old apps back if necessary.
You are in charge, not Microsoft, not Autodesk, not your PC manufacturer: don't be a patsy 🙂

i'm having the same problem with ACAD Architecture 2011, but my OS is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The 32 -bit version ran fine on Win 7 Home Premium on my older computer. Bought a new 64-bit machine, downloaded the 64-bit version, transferred the licence okay, won't stay running long enough to open a file.

Help.
