AutoCad 2014 - Mtext and bullets

I am pasting text from a PDF into mtext and need to change the format to have bullets. I woul like the format to look like the following:

1.    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

2.    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

       A.

Where the bulleted A. is under the text above in 2.

My issue is I can get the A. to come in but it is lining up under the 2. not the text. If I try to tab over I get A.A.....then A.A.A.

Does anyone know how I can get the A. to line up with the text in 2. ?

make sure that the ruler bar is showing above the Mtext, and then drag the trianglular markers to line up where you want things to be.  Backspace

over the last letter bullet, to get out of bullet mode, and then continue with numbering bullets.

fussy, but it works
