AutoCAD 2011 FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Writing 0x0000 Exception at 0h

I've searched and have found few errors "writing", most seem to be reading errors.  I'm averaging 6 fatal errors a day and this is the most common.  They occur in different drawings, while running different commands, in paper space or model space, mouse commands or key commands.  I have not been able to link one common thing that causes the error.  I'm running the latest service pack and the following is my system.

Dell Precision T1500

Intel Core i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz

8 GB ram

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

2 video cards

Quadro FX 580 245 MB

1920 x 1080 60Hz (monitor 1)

1680 x 1050 60.08Hz (monitor 2)

GeForce 8400GS

1680 x 1050 59.95Hz (52" TV)

I only use the TV for displaying 3D models, I don't design on it (refresh is to choppy and slow)

One suggestion I read was to download the AutoCad performance driver from NVIDIA.  When I tried to install the driver I got this Error "An NVIDIA Quadro or Quadro FX card board was not found on your system..."

At this point I'm lost as to what my next step should be, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll continue to update this thread with error messages.

Thank you

Turn off Win7's AERO theme and use the Windows Basic Theme instead (makes it look like WinXP).

You also chose a driver for a card you don't have: carefully follow the exact syntax for the card to match up with the driver (if one is even available).

Accept as Solution

05-29-2012 08:27 AM in reply to: pendean

I have adjusted the desktop theme as suggested and I have not had any Fatal Errors since, but it is still a little early to confirm this answer at 100%.  What I have noticed is how smoother and visually crisper AutoCAD runs with this simple change.  That alone is worth the change.  I will only reply to this thread again if my problem continues.

Thank you.

After almost 2 weeks of peace AutoCAD has started acting up again.  Yesterday it crashed without warning or error, it simply acted as if I has shut it down.  Then today it crashed with this error "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Writing 0xf00720c0 Exception at  f00720c0h".  It allowed me to save and recover, with total errors found 51 fixed 51.  The only suggestion the IT guy could suggest was running an Windows XP emulator inside Windows 7 in attempt to create a more stable environment for AutoCAD.  Suggestions?

Something on your system changed, since AutoCAD did not.

More of my error listings

07-30-2012 08:09 AM in reply to: HampMach

These are are a compilation of most of my errors since my last posting, some of my errors I did not record at the time due to the frustration.  Almost all of these error occurs while rotating in 3D either in paperspace or model space, mostly paperspace though.  My IT guy has basically given up on getting AutoCAD stable and if I can't solve these issues I'm going back to a more stable platform (SolidWorks).  Please give me a little more of a suggestion than something has changed on my system, that is quite possibly the lamest answers I have ever been given on a tech board.

Well, Dean probably didn't have his mind-reading cap on and just suggested what many others would have, something changed on your system...could be a Windows update, software install/update, driver install/update etc.

It's up to you to figure out what changed.

Going by your recently added tidbit of it crashing when rotating in 3D irc, I'd look into your video drivers and double check you have the correct driver installed.

I believe that was already suggested but no confirmation from you stating what driver is installed.

My apologies for projecting my fustration with a program towards and individual.  I stated previously that the only change on my system was windows updates.  Attached are screen shots of my video settings.
