autocad 2010 trial version

I am currently using the 2010 trial version. I am drawing multiple short lines and I need to draw another longer line (polyline) that goes through all of those initial short lines, but in a way that the longer line passes through the MIDPOINT of each of the shorter lines. I have been typing in "midpoint" each time I want to select another point for the polyline. Is there a faster way to do this? Some option that I can select and it will automatically go to the midpoint each time I click on a line, instead of having to type in the command "midpoint" each time?

Thank you.

You are right - it can be set to permanently lok for midpoints or any
other "snap point".
Turn on Autosnap for midpoints - right click over the SNAP icon at the
bottom of the graphics area and choose.
