Does anyone know where I can find the setting to view my drawing in plot mode before actually printing?
Also without having to pretend I am printing to preview the print?
Is it something in the options? like an overprint setting?
No note exactly, I remember there be a box you can check (or something) that when you go into paper space it shows how the page will print before having to go through with printing or even printing preview.
Does that ring a bell?

you mean that your layout shows up including the plotstyle-settings (so colors are reverted as defined e.g. by the CTB-file).
If that is what you are looking for: go to this layout, start the page-setup-manager and just under the field where you set the CTB- or STB-file you can check that they are used also for display of the layout.
At the first time you switch this checkmark you may have to start command REGEN.
