I haven't messed with Autocad for a while, so I'm trying to get my skills back. How do I draw this line? I tried using pline then arcs and then radius, but it doesn't work for me. It's a modification of a single, vertical line on the right. Thanks for all help.. Sorry the cell phone pics are horrible quality, they say R 6' and R 5'....
One way of doing it is to draw the two vertical lines first and add the temporary
diagonal line where the arcs should be tangent than you do a FILLET
Thanks so much for the reply. I tried this, and couldn't get it. The lines aren't meeting when I do the fillet. Any ideas why? I took a screenshot of it below.
it's all about geometric...lets say we 'know' how to position the two circles
the bigger circle with R=6.0 and the smaller with R=5.0 that are meet at the tangent point (see the attched pdf)
this create a right angle triangle ABC where b=90 degrees.
with Pythagorean equation you could easily calculate the line AB which lead you to locate the smaller
circle radius (line BC)
from here you can continue by your own?
I tried, and I'm still off just a little. I don't know what the problem is. I don't have a great understanding of geometry. Thanks for all the help.
OFFSET the top vertical line to the right by 6 feet. I will assume the endpoint here is tangent.
Draw a 6' CIRCLE using this new line's endpoint as the center.
Now OFFSET this circle 5 feet.
OFFSET the bottom vertical line to the left 5 feet.
Where this new bottom vertical line meets the 11' radius circle, this will be the center of a new 5' CIRCLE.
You may need to extend or trim the bottom vertical line as needed to find the center point.
If the bottom vertical line is the tangent (starting point), reverse the procedure.
