How to register a new version of 2009

I bought a new, sealed, copy of 2009 from a supplier who buys up leftover software. I keep trying to register it but, all I get is new messages saying the serial # is not valid. The software keeps telling me that I'm running out of trial time to either, register or, it will stop working. I know it's not a serial # for 2012 versions but, it is a new version of 2009.

It knows who activated and the IP address, but it's too late for you now because you tried to activate it too many times unsucessfully, they will fax or email the activation code to the original Buyer.

If you bought LT version then it shouldn't be a problem.

I recommend that you purchase only from a VAR.

I doubt any VARs still sell 2009.

I doubt you will ever be able to activate this license.

I'm betting you got scammed.

Thanks for the reply, However, it was never activated from new. Yes I suppose I'm the second owner but, the first owner simply bought a large pile of outdated software and I was the first person to actually install the software. That's what I can't seem to get Autodesk to understand, I have a 2004LT and you are right no problem except it doesn't work with Windows Vista.

Thanks again,

Did you contact Autodesk's registration Department?

If not here is a link to getting help activating your license. Fill out how can we help you field. Then on the next page fill in all the required information. Autodesk registration should be able to tell you if you can activate it or not.

You can not buy a license or transfer it from another party.  This is specifically stated in the EULA.  Likely the 2009 is expired and was upgraded already by the original owner or the Subscription has expired.  Autodesk will not authorize this serial for you.  You got ripped off.  Only buy from VARs.

Thanks for your guess at my problem. I tried reinstalling the software using the installation instructions that came with this NEW Software and this time it did install correctly. I now have in my hand a copy of the REGISTRATION-ACTIVATION CONFIRMATION.

Thanks again,
