How do I convert 2D polylines to 3D polylines?

Currently drawing out a contour layout. Any advice?

If you are drawing (proposed I assume) contours they are best created as
LWPolys with an assigned elevation. If they are already created click
on one and in AutoCAD's PROPS dialog you can change the elevation.

If you are creating them with the PLINE command you can assign the
elevation with the first pick. In response to the start point enter .XY
and press enter (or space), AutoCAD will let you pick the point then ask
for the elevations. All remaining picks will be on that elevation.

Command: PLINE
Specify start point: .XY of *PICK LOCATION* (need Z): 1300

In other works 3DPolys should only be used if the elevations along the
polyline varies!

It's a secondary effect of PEDIT3D.lsp (see www.black-cad.de)
