Cursor wipes out screen image in 3D visual style view

My cursor wipes out the image on the screen in any visual style 3D view.  I'm using an nVidia Quadro 600 w/ 1GB dedicated memory and the OpenGL driver.  Panning, zooming or rotating the view restores the image, but it is immediately wiped out by the cursor as it passes over the screen.  (See attached .JPG)

Hi,

what driver have you activated within _3DCONFIG ==> manual tune?

Try to change to another driver (selectable on top of this dialog) or try also to disable the hardware-acceleration.

Direct3D works, but it's a little slower and I lose my smooth line display (which I really like!).  Software mode is too slow if I have a huge file open...

Hi,

at least it's the graphic-driver then. The only chance I see is now to verify you have installed the latest service-pack for AutoCAD and you have current drivers for your gc (current may be old as you have to see that based on the time-stamp "AutoCAD 2008").

Video drivers from nVidia are new as of last week or so.

I recall this same problem happening with my last 2 video cards.  I had a Quadro FX5 card and a GeForce 8xxxGT card a long while back.

Maybe it's an nVidia thing?  I might be able to dig up an old ATI FireGL card around here somewhere and try it...

Before you go hunting for a new video card, try going back 3 sets of drivers.

The problem is most likely something new in the drivers that takes advantage of some hardware function that your chipset does not support. Going back a few steps may remove that problem and allow you to get the display you want.

Unfortuately, I have another piece of software that requires the latest and greatest driver, so this can't be a permanent solution, but I'll try it for science...

I should mention that this has been happening forever as I can recall...

Hi,

you have nVidia options for your graphiccard, have you tried to play with these options? Especially the buffering?

Ok, so I spent probably WAY too much time playing with all the nVidia settings I could find but with no avail.  What do I check next?  My tuning log shows version 17.1.0.1.  Is this the latest?

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's the best to run the latest driver as you are running AutoCAD 2008 (which is indeed not the latest release of AutoCAD), So it might be an option to try to get a driver that is as old as your AutoCAD release. (I have read that you need the latest driver for another sw, but I guess you have to decide fast and old driver or slow and current driver)

Next question is: what are your systemspecs besides of the gc, so what hardware, what os, how many memory are you using.

One idea additionally: do you have a dual-screen solution? If so are you sure AutoCAD is running on screen 1?
