Can't Purge Text Styles

I'm currently using AutoCAD 2007. I've had this problem for a long time. My drawing has one piece of attribute text in it. That attribute has a style called "TEXT-1". There are 3 or 4 additional text styles listed when I invoke the STYLE command. I've purged the drawing over and over, but these "extra" styles will not disappear. When I select them and try to "delete", the message is "Style in use. Can't be deleted." However, these styles are NOT in use - at least not that I can see. I checked the dimension style manager. None of these styles are being used there. They aren't being used in model or paper space that I can see. Why can't I purge them? How can I get rid of them? There is only one layer in the drawing ("0") since this drawing is a simple WBLOCK.

They could be referenced by null mtext/text entries.

Try this at the command line

(ssget "x" '((0 . "mtext,text") (1 . " ")))

then erase the previous selection set.

You may have some attributes which are either part of "nested" blocks or perhaps attributes that are set as invisible.

I believe a utility named superpurge might cure your problem but it would behoove you to try to find the source object which is referencing you text style.

Did you try Wblocking your drawing out to a new drawing?

I tried your suggestion. The response to the statement was "nil". Then when I tried to ERASE "Previous", my one attribute was highlighted. Of course, I don't want to erase that. However, I erased it and did another PURGE. The stubborn text styles are still there.

Can you post the drawing file? I'll find where they
are hiding and let you know.

No there are not any nested blocks - only a few polylines and the one piece of attribute text. I tried WBLOCKing it to a new file name. That sometimes works, but not this time.

That was easier than I thought :-) There is a tablestyle
in the drawing that is referencing them. Remove it and
the textstyles can now be purged.

Thanks. I forgot to check there! Is there anything else that would use text styles besides dimensions and tables?

There could be some dictionaries (non-graphical objects) in
the drawing that may keep them from being purged. I see
that allot with blocks, I'm guessing textstyles could behave
the same way.
