How to calculate the three-dimensional surface of a revolved arch by autocad 2007? such as an irreular dome

Which software can do the job? Autocad or Matlab software or .....

Additional Details

a three-dimensional surface is defined by 3 parameter such as x^3+2y^2-5z^3=0

Something like this?  I am confused by your terms surface and solid and never really mentioned the word area.

Also the axis of rotation was not connected to your arc in your image?

thanks alot : totally , the position of the rotation axis is not important . My  main purpose is , calculating the outer area of a dome surface , which is made  when an arc revolved around an axis in 3D space.

Perhpas my approach isn't as accurate as you might like but...

I modeled the dome and used solidedit to shell the solid, removing the bottom face and entering a really thin wall thickness. I used massprop to get the volume and divided that value by 2
