autocad 3d - steel structure

Hi all,

i am beging to model an industrial building in 3d for a client. For the best part i have been using, presspull, extrude, union etc. to create the rising elements. I am now trying to do the steelwork, portal frames and am finding my methods slow, particularly at the union of 2 elements (say rafters). I have extruded the rafter and mirrored it to reflect the opposite side but am having a hard time deciding which is the best way to trim the overlaps. Can anyone advise with their own methods which work best? It's my first real go at a total building in 3d.

Many thanks...

I would use Slice with plane or surface....

Much appreciated. After getiing 75% through my steelwork model I figured that the stick model was the way forward ok. Sweep command with the delobj var set to 0 is excellent. I could however do with a bit of guidance on your 'plane' and 'surface' suggestions....
