Runtime Error Acad 2004

I have been using ACAD 2004 for quite some time and just recently each time I have tried to open a file I have received the following:

Micrsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCad 2004\acad.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminatein an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled AutoCad 2004 several times to no avail. This is consistent. I can't use the program. I need help!
