A co-worker is typing new mtext or editing existing mtext and after he clicks the ok button to exist the mtext box the text disappears on the screen. We are currently using R2005 Vanilla. Thanks Sean

no the current layer isn't turned off or frozen. any other ideas? is there a variable for mtext or something like that, that could have been changed?

Does it come back if your user REGENs? Does a Move>Last? Zoom>Extents? Select>Last? Erase>@ pick anything? User in a viewport? Can you replicate on another machine? Is the problem a single file, or all files, including new ones on this one machine? Is it font related? Style command set to what? MTEXT text definitions set to what? There are so many questions, wondering if you have tried to fix, explore or answer them yet? Can you answer the above questions? the text does not come back when regened. it stays missing. you can't edit any existing or any newly entered mtext or it disappears.

Post the file - and yes you can remove your proprietary info first. Just leave a sample of the problem.

It may be you graphics card. We are running into MTEXt that can be seen on screen but not edited or gripped. It as if it doesn'y exist. The work around we have found is to cntrl+a to select all, move then undo and they all become active again. Wierd I know but it works. this is the message that appears in replacement of the dissapeared text: "1FindStyle0(GetStyle(), iStyleIndex) == FALSE". It too is not visible, but after doing a select all and finding the invisible mtext entities, this is what I got. I get this on many, many drawings and have not seen an answer yet. It doesn't matter which client we get the drawings from. It may be some version to version (2000 to 2004) problem. 2005 is the most buggy version I've seen since R13.

The best work around I have found is to reinsert the text style from the design center it seems to fix some variable that is being read wrong. When I tried to switch the invisible text ex: A-23 (a circuit number) from romans-1-4 which has one height to romans which is another height I recieved an error message as follows "key missing". After I reinserted romans I stopped getting the error and my mtext no longer disappears. This may be a real pain in the butt for some one who does not have access to the original style.
