how do I figure out the scale factors for 1:300 & 1:400

It looks as though you are drafting in metres and plotting on sheets

measured in millimetres, that's how we do it too. Hence, 1:300 = 3.3333xp

and 1:400 = 2.5xp. You can do this yourself for any scale by using the

formula: 1000/(desired scale) = zoomfactor(xp).

ok I must be doing something wrong here.... I go into tile mode.. hit "Z"

then enter.. then "S" and enter... then I would normally put 1/(scale

factor)xp.. for some reason its not letting me put a decimal in there.

Why don't you use the Viewport toolbar and just enter the scale factor

(1:300 or 1:400) you want in the drop down?

In your Layout tab type MSPACE enter ZOOM enter 3.3333xp enter, and you

should be done. That is assuming I deciphered your original post correctly.

If you want to write 1/scalefactor the scalefactor MUST be an integer

value. This is a known limitation of this kind of notation of a

quotient. You must not write e.g 1/2.5, but 10/25 and so on.

I draft in both metres (meters) and millimetres so I need something simple

so I won't tax my brain.

When drafting in metres I use say 1000/300xp as my base unit is 1000mm

long

When drafting in mm I use 1/300xp as my base unit is 1mm long

both viewports will are 1:300. Note no decimals & no thinking

Same here, sort of....

Our metric base is 1mm and as you say for layout tab plotting at 1:1, we use

1/100xp for view ports at a scale of 1:100.

We also deal with civil drawings where the base unit is 1 meter and one

drawing unit = 1 meter. To be honest, I haven't really looked at their plot

drawings to see if the layout tab is based on one drawing unit = 1 meter or

1 drawing unit = 1mm.
