Is there a way to disable those keys?
I hit them sometimes by accident and almost never use help, grid or snap...

The irony is the F1 key will bring up help, which will help you to modify the Function Keys.

This has been talked about a lot in the past in here, also search here for F1 or F1 key.

good luck

Sounds like you need to disable all F-keys and reassign
Ortho to something easier to aim at... . Like F12 perhaps.

LOL, after 10 years of autocad my left hand is far more used to type then my right hand, so typing lessons will be useless I guess and probably injure my right hand ;-)

Thanks for the F1 search tip, I found a great explanation here:

So I understand that everyone here is an arrogant (ignorant) user. Excpet of course the individual who asked the question. Looks like I accidentally spelled "except" wrong. Well, guess I should take typing lessons. Here's a tip, if you don't know the answer then don't respond.

You can do this by going into the CUI (customize user interface):

  1. Right-click a toolbar and click Customize or enter CUI on the command line.
  2. In the upper-left section of the CUI dialog box, expand Keyboard Shortcuts > Shortcut Keys.
  3. In the Command List, right-click the Cancel command. Click New Command. A new command will be added to the bottom of the list.
  4. Right-click the new command. Click rename.
  5. I renamed mine to Disable - F7, Disable - F9, I personally don't mind the F1 so much
  6. Drag the new command into the Shortcut Keys section.
  7. Select the new command from the Shortcut Keys list. Under Properties, in the lower right-hand corner, click the Keys line and click the Small button. (thats the button with the "...")
  8. Hit the key you want to use for this "do nothing command" i.e. F7 or F9 or F1
  9. click assign
  10. click apply
  11. try it out.

check out the attachment to clarify. it isn;t exactly what you want to do but it will give you thge right idea.

Everybody else in this forum can go to hell. oh...look instead of isn't i ACCIDENTALLY typed isn;t.

I know this is from a long time ago but I would just add one thing because I found it very helpfull. Delete the macro line in the command if you want those keys to do absolutely nothing. Otherwise it will cancel out whatever command you may be in.
