Hello,
I would like to know if the MAP edition is like the standard version just with added functions or if it is a complete other program.
The Reason behind it is, that we have to use the old autoCAD 2006 for one speacial function and therfore we have to buy a licence for it. Now I have two offers, one for the standard 2006 version in which i know that the used functions work. And the other is the MAP version which is the cheaper.
So can I buy the chear MAP version and have all functions of the standard Product?
Regards,
Steffen Eppler
sorry, but maybe I don't understand, but why can't I buy legally a version of autoCAD 2006
It is sold here: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321304510752 as used software and I assume that is no legal problem.
Unless those discs that are for sale NEVER had registered to anyone, you can buy it and it's yours to use, otherwise you're just buying the discs without license to use.
That standpoint is arguable in my opinion.
There Have been recent and some older court decisions that allow software reselling.
In the EU (for me applicalbe) there was a case last year which is described here: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/07/top-eu-court-upholds-right-to-resell-downloaded-software/
And also especially for Autodesk there was this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernor_v._Autodesk,_Inc.
So as in my opinion it is totally legal to resell your software if you don't need it anymore. If I can activate the software with the autodesk server is yet another question ...
