Can somebody tell me if AutoCAD 2006 will run on a 64 bit computer, and if so at what version did it start being compatible ? 2004/5 ?
Also is the LT version compatible as well ?

Yes AutoCAD will run on a 64 bit computer. However it is not designed to
make full use of the 64 bit processor. We have it running on several 64 bit
machines without any problems both 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Are you using a 64 bit Operating System or a 32 bit one ( aka win 64 or win 32)?
