Word into AutoCAD - Let me get this straight

From what I have read so far, the only way to get a word file into AutoCAD
that is halfway decent and readable is to scan the document and insert the
image into AutoCAD?

Am I being too picky to ask for more compatibility or insert options?

Thanks

Why not just insert it into the dwg file (Insert>OLE Object)? Works fine.
You must realize that only the first page of the Word Doc will show. I just
adjust the page size (in Word) to some larger/longer page to make it all
show in AutoCAD.

Why not just Copy then paste it into MText.

We do it all the time & it works very well

What would be REALLY cool is when you could change the Mtext Editor
(MTEXTED) to Word (or even WordPad) the formatting actually stays..!!..

Paul,

You probably already knew this, but you can change the default editor to be
Microsoft Word, or any other Word processor, but you're right, you still
lose the formatting. Think of it as a half step in the right direction.
Ole is the only way to get it to look right, but it has a bunch of problems
and limitations of it's own.

Thanks for your responses.

The problem with inserting it as MTEXT is we need the documents just as they
are. It is a document from a published book and we need to keep it in its
original format.

I guess I'll wait for another release.

At least a little more of the RTF standards (such as tabs) would
be nice.

Here's one I just stumbled on by getting a little click happy on the mouse.
Put some text on your Windows Clipboard and then in an Autocad drawing,
select an existing MText item(highlighted/selected) and paste the clipboard
text right in MText items place.

A workaround I have used is to use the efax program
www.efax.com which installs as a fax printer. Print the document to a efax file(don't send it out) then open the efx file in the fax viewer and use the export to tiff option and then import the tiff into autocad.
