TIFF files

Is there any way to turn a TIFF file into a dwg file and be able to manipulate it, such as move lines
change colors, etc. Or is it just one image that can not be touched?
Thanks, Dave R.

As far as I know you can not make any changes to a
tiff file.  It would be a very useful tool though.  Guess it will have
to be added to the Auto Cad Wish list.

You can open TIFF files in most high end graphics programs, like Adobe's
Photoshop: but you will not be moving lines as much as erasing and drawing a
new one.
Image files are not as convenient as vector files.

If there was that would make my job much easier. AutoCAD will allow you
import images but that is about all you can do to them. AutoDesk makes a
program called CADOverlay that integrates with AutoCAD and allows some
raster manipulation (it's a hassle) and has a raster-to-vector converter
built in. You can download free demos for raster-to-vector software as
well. There are many problems with these kinds of programs but the cleaner
the scan the better the conversion. Sometimes just redrawing is the best
way to go.

Hope this helps

Corel has their own program "ocr-trace" which
does allow you to convert bitmap files into dxf files using plines.  The
scanned image or other file must be as clean as possible though.  And it
can get to be a rather large file.
