any outthere with good functionality?

? Garbage ?

There are Steel Detailing packages, there are Bill of Material packages
and then there are a few that combine these features... is that not what
you asked for?

AutoCAD Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop and Inventor all have these
capabilities... if you choose to stick with generic AutoCAD you will
need to customize it.

There are also some 3rd Party applications that are available if you
search the internet via a decent search engine.

well, it was an off-the-cuff comment; which i suppose i should be sorry for. But i looked at the reference and it is not much. . . poorly organized and with none of the good stuff, like dotsoft.

i have strucpro which does attempt at a bom. But i need one for structures. I solved my problem with dotsoft xl2cad.exe.
