resident objects...?

I have a number of objects that are on layer X, at least according to the properties dialog box, however if I turn all of the layers except layer X off there are no objects visible. The objects on layer X seem to be connected to layer Y, when I turn just layer Y on the objects on layer X appear. What's up? Is there anyway to fix this?

Possibly Blocks defined on Layer Y but inserted in Layer X?

You must redefine the block, with all entities placed on layer 0, and no other layers existing other than 0.
