qleader problem

I'm using qleader because it's the first time autocad has a leader tool
that actually puts the tail (or 'hook') in the right place. But, now I
have a drawing in which, although Mtext Attachment is set to "middle of
top line", qleader puts the tail (hook) at the top of the top line.
What's going on here?

you need to go into settings of the qleader command and change the
settings...

there is no sys variable for these settings..

Yes, but the settings are correct!  Actually, I think this is the
problem:

qleader only works when in WCS

Could this be possible?  I ran a few tests using the command
with a rotated ucs with very strange behavior from the command.  Try
it yourself.  The end point of that dashed red line that shows up
when you are prompted for the mtext width is apparently not translated
to the current coordinate system.  And the attachment point for the
text is wrong.

I gave up on Qleader a long time ago because of this problem. I set all of
my alias' & toolbars to invoke the Leader command. If there is a fix, I
would love to hear about it.
