one standard dimension style

we are trying to create one single deimension style for all viewport scales.
we have trtied so many variables, but can't seen to get it to work. either
the text size or the tick sizes won't scale correctly. they look good at on
scale, but not at another. thus, we know have ten dimension styles for ten
different scales. does anybody know how to create just one dimension style
for all scales? can anybody e-mail me their style if it works so?

Yes you can create only one dimstyle. Its also easier than having several,
especially when someone else works on a drawing and is not paying attention.
Dimension Styles... Fit (2000i) and under the graphic area is Scale for
Dimension Features" Select.. Scale Dimensions to Layout (PaperSpace). Over
to Text.. set style to Standard with the size you prefer in PaperSpace.Exit
Dimension Style. Enter Text Styles set Standard Text to a font style you
prefer.. RomanS, RomanD or leave it at Txt if you like. Set the text height
to 0.00 so the text in the dimensions will always be at your prefered scale.
It will not matter if you have 10 Viewports at 10 different scales, they
will all be the same when plotted or viewing, just editing them will there
be a size difference. If you put the dimensions for each Viewport on a
different layer then you will also be able to turn off the 1/24xp dimensions
and turn on 1/48... etc. Have a nice simpler day. You don not have to
remember which DimStyle you are using, or if you are even in the correct
Viewport for that DimStyle.

I'm curious!

I do architectural working drawings. and for a typical plan or section, I
only draw it once. If I have a wall section at a scale of 3/4"=1'-0", I
dimenions it with a style called Dim16 on a layer I call Dim16. If I need
to blow up a portion of that wall section to say 1-1/2"=1'-0", I then
dimension that portion of the detail with a style called Dim8 on a layer
called Dim8. In the viewports, I then freeze/thaw in a particular viewport
the appropriate layers for the viewprot scale.

Do I understand some of you to say that I can create only one dimstyle and
if I were to put it on the appropriate layer and freeze/thaw that layer in a
viewport, the dimension can be made to display at the proper scale for that
viewport?

Also one can import these components into any drawing by using Design Center

n regards to your scales. I have found the best way it works for me is
to set up a template file or prototype. I then will either start a
drawing using this proto then immediately do a save as so I do not write
over my proto. in my proto I have linetypes, text styles, dimension
styles. I have mine set up so that all my text will be the same height
as well as arrows and ticks to be consistent no matter what scale I am
using. I have 4 main protos 2 for engineering scales using either 11x17
size paper or 22x34 size. 2 for arch scales 11x17 and 22x34
I have then taken these protos and expanded them to contain blocks and
layers to aid me in my work.
The nice thing about have these protos is that only one person needs to
do this to customize to company standards. Thus the personnel only needs
to learn how to use them.
