Offset - Layer

Is there a way to offset a line and have the new line be in a layer other than the layer of the original line?

check the cf there is a lisp in there that you
could probably modify to be what you want...

 

as  is it currently offsets to the
current layer or something like that

 

check it out

If you have express tools, use
exofset.
