Object Properties T/B with a twist

I have the same problem as jrs57 "When I select an entity, it is highlighted and the grips appear, but the Object Properties toolbar won't change to tell me what Layer, Linetype or Color the entity is." EXCEPT, changing the "PICKFIRST" command doesn't correct the problem!

Are you saying that in Options under Selection, checking the Noun/Verb box
didn't help? I had the same problem until I checked that.

Yep, Changed that. It did this about a month ago so I re-installed the base and it went back to working but as quit again. I'd like to solve the problem rather than reload

PICKFIRST is just the command line version of the Noun/verb selection box (i.e. if you set PICKFIRST to 1, acad checks the Noun/verb selection box.) are you noticing the change after any specific commands or routines are enacted?

Thanks,
yeah, I know that. Both are set properly. The OPTB header displays "Properties- Drawing1.dwg" no matter what the dwg name. So it apparently has a busted link. No I don't notice any changes after resetting the PICKFIRST variable. could this be REGISTRY related? Wait, now that I think about it, both time it has quit, it happened right after doing some 3D cabnitry layouts and rendering. Just coincidence?

probably not . . . sounds like something in the rendering process might be disabling or disassociating some kind of link. sorry, no cause/solution comes to mind. does it happen with new dwgs as well?

yeah, it does it in all dwgs. I just checked again and the header had the dwg name as it should. But the one thing that is constant is: no matter what the PICKFIRST var is set to, if you pick the obj. first then activate the tool bar, it comes up with the dwg name in the header but all else is blank (even no separator lines). This is agrivating

See if this helps:

Object Properties Window
TS42573 Object is selected but "No
Selection" is displayed in Properties window (OPMfix.exe).

Ok,
That wasn't it!. I have 2000 and the OPMfix is for 2000i. 2000 does not (at least on mine) have the "proxyID.dll" required for the fix. Any other suggestions greatly appretiated!! This is driving me crazy!

Well, if it is possible, uninstall AutoCAD. Then scan the
registry for anything related to Autocad or Autodesk and delete it (back up your
registry first!!). Then reinstall and hopefully it will be fixed.

I know this solution (edited), but it's a "when all else fails"
solution.
