Need to add a logo to a curved surface?

I am using cad 2002. I need to add a logo (tif image) to a water storage tank surface. the tank is shaped with a cylindrical section sandwiched between two elliptical domes. I can get the cylinder solid. How do i get a elliptical solid with a surface? How do i add the tif image to the surface? Thanks.

Use the REVOLVE command on a quarter section of the ellipse.

RMAP will allow mapping of images.

Dear DALDaver
Thanks for the tips. I was not able to revolve the section of the ellipse, however I was able to fit an arc close enough to get the perspective we wanted. I also managed to overlay the 3D tank with new logo onto a photo of the existing tank. Again Thanks!!!

You're quite welcome.

Next time use the BOUNDARY command to create a new polyline, or REGION in the elliptical section and REVOLVE that.

Also look into SOLIDEDIT, it allows you to "IMPRINT" elements like text onto solids.

you cant actually revolve an ellipse. what you need to to do is use a circle with a short straight face at one of the quadrants. ensure that you have a quarter of the circle closed and then revolve it..

i wouldn't have a clue about the image though.

Tell me again why you can't revolve an ellipse? Seems to work for me.

Use BOUNDARY to create a new REGION of the area you wish to revolve. My
guess is you've used a true ELLIPSE, which can not be turned into a pline.
