modelspace to paperspace

I create a large rectangular viewport in paperspace. Shows, say, all of
what's in modelspace. I then create a smaller circular viewport for a
detail view. Place it within (or on top of) the large rectangular port.
Because it's a small viewport, I zoom in on it, still in paperspace. I
then double click within the circular viewport and zoom in, now in model
space, to the get the detail view I want. So far, so good. Here's the
problem. My view on screen is completely within the larger viewport.
Double clicking out of the little circular port puts me into model space
in the larger one. Zooming all or extents zooms within that viewport,
not out in paperspace. Setting tilemode to 0 doesn't help. How do I get
back to a full layout view showing all of both viewports?

CTRL+R will cycle through viewports. Also once in the viewport type CVPORT.
This will give you the viewport number. You can the n use the CVPORT command
to switch to that viewport.

click on the little toggle at the bottom of your autocad screen that says "MODEL" on it... if your in paperspace it will say "PAPER" on it... DanL http://www.dczaland.com

lock the display (by selecting the viewport, then a right click or use the
properties box)
then even if the viewport is active and you are working on the model through
the viewport
you can zoom in and out without changing the viewport scale.

How do I get back to a full layout view showing all of both viewports?

Thanks for the replies. PSPACE did the trick. Cycling thru the viewports
cycled me thru modelspace in each viewport but still didn't let me
back out to full layout.
RE: "click on the little toggle at the bottom of your autocad screen
that says "MODEL" on it... if your in paperspace it will say "PAPER" on
it." - I'm using r2002 and the confounding thing was that the layout tab
always indicated I was in layout view but kept me trapped in model space
in one vport or another.
