I feel that I need to warn you against doing what you said.
Changing the definitions of the standard Linetypes in acad.lin could create
a big mess when you move files to and from different workstations or
organizations.
I think adding more definitions (With new names for new linetypes) is much
better. Then, when you need to send a file to someone else you eTransmit the
file with all relevant files.
