Importing PDF file into AutoCAD

How do I import a PDF file into AutoCAD 2000?

Thanks,

You can create it from a file within _insertobj
But that method yielded an icon in the drawing file. You will find the icon
will take you directly to the Acrobat reader and the original PDF file will
open. If your desire was to have the actual document readable in the
drawing, like a graph or spreadsheet, then the process is a little tougher.
PDFs can be converted to CAD with third party items like GSVIEW.

I found it a good couple hours of reading and work to get things running.
(Caution: manipulation of PDF files into CAD drawings can offend the
original authors wishes, and yield some low quality CAD drawings. They are
being recreated from an image afterall.)
Good luck.

By the way Edgetrimmer, I have seen so many solution posts here with your
byline, I was beginning to think you were another Dean Saadallah or Terry
Dotson.....You have burst my bubble with proof that you are human........

PDF to DWG, not pretty at all or really usable, but:

PDF -> Adobe Illustrator (not free) -> DWG/DXF -> AutoCAD
PDF -> GhostScript + GSView (free from the Internet)-> DXF ->
AutoCAD
PDF -> Adobe Acrobat (not free)-> Copy/Paste -> AutoCAD

Thanks man. I did some experimenting today with Ghostview/Ghostscript. I
think that's the way to go for me. Had success with converting PDF to PNG
and imaging into AutoCAD. Don't think image would be scaleable but at 1:1
it looked pretty good.

Thanks again for the imput. Looks like Ghostscript with Ghostview is the
ticket.

You don't!
There are ways...

One of the easiest is to make a snapshot of the ".pdf" as an image (".jgp",
".tif", ".bmp" to name a few). Then bring it into Autocad.

Sure you can....look at Dean's message. The best way is with Adobe
Illustrator and then export to .dxf/.dwg. Most times clean up is required
but it does work and it is not a raster format (.jpg, tif or .bmp).
