How can I create a critical(inspection) box in Autocad 2002?

You can add a box around the dim, thus creating a basic dimension.

Thank you, but I need something for critical dimensions?

If you are refering to a Datum Feature Symbol used
in Geo. Tolerances, then type TOLERANCE at the command line, or look for the
tolerance bitmap in the dimension tool bar.  I see no reference to a
"critical dimension box" in my geo. tolerance book.

Hope that helps.

Perhaps we are using something here that no one else does. On dimension that are critical we place a rounded box around the dimension to indicate that it is a critical/inspected dimension.
Hopefully that makes a little more sense.
Thanks for your time,

A sharp cornered box is easy, but if it HAS to be a ROUNDED box, then I'm afraid you're out of luck, as far as doing it automatically, unless you can find a list routine.

Maybe if you posted a sample of a dimension with the type box you need
on customer files we'd have a better idea of what you're looking for....

Yes, that's it, so how did you do it? Create a box and round the corners?

I'm just displaying an example.

I didn't use ACAD to create it.

If you know Autolisp, you can easily do that by extracting some properties and used those properties to construct a box bounding the dimension text. If not, you can search for a lisp routine that construct a box around "text" and then tweak the routine to work on dimensions or maybe just wait
until someone post the routine or send it to you......

There's a way to do this, but it  probably
isn't what you want to do.  If you have Express Tools, there's a command
called TCIRCLE that will draw a "slot" around text.  Problem is, you have
to explode your dimensions before it will recognize the text in them. Hope
this helps
