Autosave-files (*.sv$) in my temp-folder. - AutoCAD 2000i.

Hi.

I use AutoCAD 2000i.

AutoCAD create autosave-files (*.sv$) in my temp-folder.
And when I save (qsave) the autosave-files bin deleted. This is standard
procedure I think.

Question:
I wonder if there are any way to programming (or something) so that the
*.sv$-files will remain
in the temp-folder after saving (qsave).
At the same time I would like AutoCAD to create a new *.sv$-file for each
autosave.
Is that possible things to do?

Thanks

Why? If I have a crash (they should be there to help recover the file) but I
would then go to the BAK file...

ISAVEPERCENT set it to 0
ISAVEBAK set it to 1
SAVETIME set to 10 or 15
and use QSAVE often...

I also use the Express Tool MOVEBAK and save those locally with 2 QSAVES and
my BAK is as good as my DWG.

And if you still need the SV$ saved... see customization for a possible
solution.

Tracy

Would you explain more the MOVEBAK & save w/ 2 QSAVES and why ISAVEPERCENT should be 0?
I work from a drive that is share and not in my computer, so each time I save the BAK goes into a TEMP folder, right? in my C: drive, or where? I want to know by doing MOVEBAK and create a folder in my C: drive will the share drive will keep another BAK dwg? Thank you

Morten,

I think I can help with the first part of your question.

Here is what I did to keep my *.sv$ files. I set up a folder on my c-drive
called autosave. Then I went into the AutoCAD options, under the files
screen there is an option for "autosave file location" I changed that to the
autosave folder I created. Now it saves my autosave files in there and they
stay when I close out.

Hope this helps,

Brent.

MOVEBAK does just that...
Saving with 2 QSAVES just makes the BAK=DWG except for the extension
ISAVEPERCENT being set to zero ensures every save is a full save (see
ISAVEPERCENT in the Help Files)

As for where your BAK gets moved to, if you have MOVEBAK you can specify
where the BAK file gets moved to, otherwise it is saved where the DWG
file is. So in your case MOVEBAK will move the BAK file to your C:\ and
leave the DWG file on the shared drive. There will only be one BAK and
one DWG... you could always leave them on your shared drive and copy
them to another location.

Hi Brent.

I also have my own folder for autosave-files (local).
And the sv$-files are stored at that location.
Every thing is ok, but I want I my sv$-files to "stay" there after a
"qsave".

Not a big case, but... 🙂
