Add a Plot Wizard in AutoCAD 2000 and HP750C plotter no can do

I am in the process of configuring my HP750C plotter in AutoCAD 2000.
I am using >Control Panel> AutoDesk Plotter Manager>Add-A-Plotter Wizard

I have stepped through, answering various questions about port, and then in
the Dialog Box "Plotter Model" we run into trouble.
If I select "HP" as the manufacturer in the left box and "DesignJet 750C
C3196A" in the right box, and then click next... I get the warning that this
driver emulates the DesignJet and is not for use with an actual HP
DesignJet. It goes on to state that the driver on the CD rom should be used
(this is version 4.01) or to look for a more recent update on HP's website.

When I go back in the Plotter Wizard to the Plotter Model page, and instead
press "Have Disk" .... I then point to the directory on the AutoCAD CD that
the warning referred to .. the problem here is that the ONLY type of file
the wizard is prepared to deal with is a "*.HIF" Heidi Information File.
The files on the CD are *.inf not *.hif.

Therefore I visited the HP website. HP does indeed have a driver released
Sep 29 which is version 4.2 - however the same problem exists wherein, their
driver has no *.hif.

Help.

The message about updating the driver relates to updating / installing
a WINDOWS SYSTEM PRINTER for the HP750C. Use Control Panel->Printers
->Add Printer ( or right click on existing printer to change it's
properties).
Then use Control Panel> AutoDesk Plotter Manager>Add-A-Plotter Wizard
and pick the 'System Printer' option.
The - 'My Computer' and 'Network Plotter Server' options are only
recommended for plotters that emulate an HP plotter, hence the
warning message.
