I was hoping that by now I would be able to use 2015 exclusively, but everytime that I use it, I run into new problems. Now, I can't see the layer bar at the top of the screen, and when I have a simple model dollying creates a checkerboard design (like PhotoShop and Illustrator have for a background). This checkerboard gets larger or smaller as I zoom in and out. Coupled with the layer bar, It makes it unusable for me.

Hi donest
Nothing really wrong with your layers, it may be that in some windows it may be hiden, just in case just make sure that the Toggle Layers Bar and Toggle Layers may be off. make sure they are on. Please refer to image in attachment.
Also your grid, It should be working fine, it doesn't work like in photoshop, for instance if you set your grid to 100mm no matter how much you zoon in or out it always gonnae be 100mm unless you change it. For your image 2015 you do not have subdivisions ON but for 2014 img you have 10 subdivisions. To Adjust it go to PALETTE > CONSTRUCTION > GRID PRESENT AND DOUBLE CLICK ON IT. Please refer to image in attachment.
Hope it helps, happy modelling.

Haha! I looked everywhere for the "toggle layers" tool, but I never toggle them, so didn't know where that was. Searching didn't help. Works now. As for the grid, I always set my spacing to either 1 Cm or 1 inch with subdivisions of 10. That, and the size of the grid was not the problem, I think. I had changed my video driver to suit PhotoShop. This didn't agree with Alias, I guess, so when I changed it back again it works fine. Thanks for the help.
