Trouble with Image based lighting

I am using Alias 2009 and I am having trouble with image based lighting. I read the introduction to environments tutorial and I can't find the IBL pull down it mentions....I must be overlooking, help!!!

does the environment window say "Hardware(Vertex)"?
sounds like you have your hardware shading set to "Per Vertex".

change the method to "Per Pixel".

You are out of luck if you are running DesignStudio since this functionality is only available in higher end versions of the application.

Actually I'm also having this problem, with Studio. In Hardware Shade I have the Per Pixel option turned on.

When I open a HDR image, simply nothing happens.

are you able to see the default IBL environments that ship with the software?
-Make sure hardware shade is set to Per Pixel.
-Make sure the shader is set to "use environment"

the easiest way to find the default IBL maps is in the Visualize control panel.
-to switch to the visualize workflow (Preferences>workflows>visualize)
OR
-switch the control panel by the pull down at the top of it. (usually it says "default")

-the environment tab has some that say "ibl..."
-double click one of them.

anything happen?

the other problem with loading your own is they have to be in a alias friendly format.

long/lat maps need to be 2:1 such as 2048 X 1024
Verticle cross need to 3:4

yes, the embedded IBLs worked fine

but with my own HDRs it still doesn't. I imagine it must have something to do with their format. Doing a first test by modifying their proportions didn't help.

The strange thing is that, if I remember well, in version 2008 I could use my own HDRs without problem...

what resolution and orientation is the file?
I use HDRshop to control the resolution and it seems to work well.

weird. If you have subscription, i would phone/email Autodesk. They probably can help.

IBL with HDRI's works fine on my PC in the "Per Pixel" mode and the objects correctly reflect the HDR in the viewport but when I try the exact same thing on my mac the HDRI's image is not reflected in the viewport and the reflections can only be seen on rendering. Could someone please help!

I'm running Design Studio 2009, and I'm assuming that is does not handle IBL environments? I can see the defaults environments in the control panel but they do nothing... Is there a plug-in that can be purchased that would allow me access IBL environments?
