Question about construction history and edge round

So out of curiosity

you generate a surface and intersect it with a cylinder and trim it.

Moving the cylinder will update the trim command.

If I add an edge round command to the trim edge seems not to update

when I move the cylinder. The rounded edge / filet geometry remains at the same position and only the trimmed surfacaes from the first trim tool command will update.

This seems to me like a break inside the parametric construction history.

Is this not possible in Alias? Would you advice to apply edge round commands at the last step?

The wirefile is attached.

Thanks

With Edge Round do you mean the Round tool under the Surfaces pallete? I don't think that's the correct solution for this type of blend, I used the Surface Fillet command which gives the same results as you had, but is parametric.

Take a look at the attached .wire

Hi Kevin,

the surface filet tool is quite a good solution for two surfaces.

The edge round tool is the best solution for working on multiple edges at the same time, like working on a solid.

The model I uses here of course has only two surfaces and thus one shared edge.

But as it looks the edge round tool does not carry update automatically when geometry is being moved.

You can only update the edge rounding values afterwards.

The filet surface tool is fully dynamic allowing to recompute the trimming and fillet when having moved a profile.

I am just surprised that Alias does not handle both commands the same way.
