picking lag

i have a significant picking lag in 3d scenes.
when i want to pick a surface from an imported file, it takes up to half a minute until alias has picked the surface.

does anyone know how to fix this?

i forgot the system:

vista 32; thinkpad z61p with dual core and fire GL 5200; alias 2008

FireGL seems to be the culprit. Try installing the latest drivers or check our qualified h/w page for more info.

what page? i cant find a qualified h/w on the autodesk website.

If the selection delay only happens with imported files it might be this one is made of hundreds if not thousand of surfaces or curves. That would do to provoke some selection delay.

If you can, turn off anti aliasing in the ATI-Driver and use the Alias software AA. The ATI drivers i know unfortunately insist on using at least 2x2 AA.



On ATI cards it helped me a lot to turn off the point of interest or lock it (via viewing panel)...
