IK in Alias Design 2013 ???

So I talked my company into buying a new copy of Alias Design for me.  I had been using a VERY old version of Alias Studio.

There is tons of documentation in the 2013 docs about IK - IK handles, etc.  But I do not have any of these functions.  Am I missing something?

I opened one of my old files of a piece of hardware with lots of articulated joints.  - the IK skeleton is still there - but Alias Design 2013 just treats them as normal objects.  I can pick them and move them around - but of course the model isn't attached to them any more.

Help?

Thanks.

Hi there,

did you find an answer until now?

And is it possible to define limits to the joints? I am not able to get Studio2009 to accept limits...

Regards

Hello,

I just checked the comparison charts for alias products (design, surface, automotive), and they do not mention animation tools for any of the products, which is quite weird.

Anyway, you should check with Autodesk if Desing version incorporates animation tools.

Automotive version, is fully packed with all features, but design version is not, that s why it is a lot cheaper.

Good luck.

Ah...thank you for reply.

Strange thing indeed. Maybe they want us to outsource every anim stuff to maya or the like...

Hmm i hoped 1naylor would be a Studio IK Specialist by now. So maybe he could help me with the joint limits.

Anyone else there?

Kind Regards
