How long does it take to learn Alias?

Hi,

Question: How long does it take to learn Alias? In a quality to be able working in the automotive industry as an Alias-Designer.

I am an absoloute beginner.

Is it possible to learn alias by myself or do I need to attent courses?

I think it's possible to learn by yourself, but you will need on the job mentoring as well for some time, like maybe a couple of months. Production work is something no self teaching nor course classes can replicate.

I would suggest, go to the Autodesk University website and buy a virtual AU pass (100$) then you will be able to download the many great presentations from people like Uwe and Barry and delve into high quality surfacing techniques and skills.

In regards to how long it will take, can't help you there, depends on the circumstances I suppose. All I will say is, when you see these techniques for the first time, let it sink in...sleep on it, and watch them several times. It will start becoming clear sooner rather than later from there on out.
