plan view for create cut/detail

in our drawing creations....paperspace, prototype, titleblock, not sure what AS calls them. We have no problems at all creating 'cut' details using the 'create view/section' buuton, but just can't figure out how to create a plan view detail as simple as creating a cut view detail. It has to simple....right???

hi,

paperspace = the 2D drawing space from where you plot etc
modelspace - where you are modelling your 3D model
prototype = the templates AS use for making the drawings from your 3D parts to 2D paperspace
titelblock = the block in the right corner of the drawing with the principal name, adress etc.

What specific detail do you want? a snapshot in your 2D plan view?
There is not a commad like " create view/setion" for a view detail.
However you can make a drawing style specific for details, but you have to make these like a plan view, it is similar to cameras.

i hope this is enough answer for your question.

Thanks., before AS we used ASD. In ASD you could create 'zoomed in' plan views with the same basic command as the one that created cuts or sections. Even in AS own pop up when you hover over the button gives the option of creating a view or section. Wonder what the AS definition of 'view' is? We understand how to use cameras at node, etc....to create the view we like, we just misunderstood the definition of a 'view'. Kinda like trying to find detailed help on the vast majority of AS commands. Thanks for your comments and time, they are valued greatly!

I've done these heaps of times. You select the icon you have shown, then click the view you want to create the view from. Then select how wide its going to be, and how deep (from memory), then it will ask if you want to use the same scale, then it'll draw the new view.

@TomislavGolubovic Thanks for the reply. Which view are you choosing from the 100's of choices. We have tried numerous and have only been able to generate cuts or sections....Is it possible for you to post a 2 or 3 minute screencast to demostrate, I sure a lot of users would be extremely thankful.
