Advance Steel API

Hi,

i'm looking to develop a plugin for Advanced Steel to import models.

Is there any documentation or samples/guides for getting started?

Thanks,

Jon

advance api is only for joints programming it won`t help you with import models

Does anyone know where to get examples & documentation on the AS api.
It sounds ideal for a more powerful approach for special connections than what the custom connections currently provides. Not sure if my programming skills are up to it though but willing to have a look/go Smiley Happy

I invite you to communicate with your local Graitec office.

Graitec has full experience with AS's API and can help you in your endeavors.

Hugo,

Thanks you responce & suggestion to contact my local Graitec office.

I have been in touch with the UK Graitec office requesting API information & have recieved the reply below:-

Hi Geoff

As you are probably aware, in late 2014 Autodesk acquired Advance Steel - this included the API. You may be better off contacting Autodesk  with your request.

We value your custom and feedback.  Was this response Excellent, Good, Average, Poor or Unsatisfactory

Regards

It's a shame that it would appear that a potentially powerful part of this software package is now unavailable to the end users although it is listed as part of the product.

I am under a fully paid up support agreement with Graitec & also under a subscription arrangement with Autodesk.

I don't know if you can suggest anything else Hugo.

Kind Regards

Geoff Martin.

Hello GMDS,

Thank you for accessing Advance Steel Forum.

The Graitec response was correct that you should ask for this documentation from Autodesk.

The documentation is available at request, depending on the area you want to use.

It is difficult to distribute on forum, due to size and structure.

I will send you a PM.

Best regards,

Emy

hello Emy,

I am also interested in a complete documentation of the Advance API. I am an Advance user and I am very familiar with the AutoCAD.Net API. Now I would like to work my way into the Advance API.

best regards,

Christian

Hello Emy

We are looking to directly import our externally created model into AS.  To date our local Autodesk representatives have been unable to help us.  Please forward a copy of any documentation that may help us to achieve this by using the open API within Advance Steel.  Are you also able to provide an AS contact so we can directly start constructive dialog in this matter?

Your assistance is appreciated.

Regards

Doug

Hi Doug,

Which software or format is your externally defined model in?

I've developed a number of translators and converters that might possibly help.

Cheer,

Jon

Hello Jon

Thanks for your reply.  We are currently looking at what the guys at Autodesk have to offer.  Please provide your direct contact details so I can communicate with you directly if the Autodesk solution doesn’t work out.

Hi,

I would be very interrested in AdanceSteel API's documentation too. I'm using Advance Steel since the version 2009, and I'm a bit familiar in programing.

How can I get the API and the documentation?

Hi.

We develop analysis and code based design modules, and I would like to incorporate this with Advance steel using the API.

I am an ADN member since 2010. Could I please have access to the AS API?

Regards.
