What does "not implemented" mean?

I always fail to create clip nodes remotely on our Flame system, getting "not implemented" as a lastError() string. What does it refer to? createClipNode not being implemented on the WT server?

Your version of flame may be too old to support the creation of clips. The IFFFS Wiretap server version must read 1.7 or greater to support clip creation. run wiretap_server_dump (from the SDK) on your machine to see the versions of all servers.

Thank you for the fast response.

Due to network issues, wiretap_server_dump doesn't work, but I was able to write a program that coughs up the following information:

Using WireTap Client API v2007.0.0. (local client version)
server protocol: 2.4 (from serverHandle::getProtocolVersion)
server version: 1.1 (from serverHandle::getVersion)
Product Id: IFFFS @ fcedu - Product_2463 (serverHandle::getProduct)

I'm guessing the server version should read 1.7 or greater?

(BTW, it's a flame 9.0.5 machine on IRIX)

The wiretap_client_tool would have done the same thing if pointed to a server.

From the oputput, I can see that the server version (1.1) is too old. In fact, I believe you qualify for a free upgrade to the next version ... which is significantly more stable. We don't even test against this version anymore since the upgrade is free.

What exactly should I upgrade? Just the IFFFS Wiretap server or the entire Wire component? Also, should I get this upgrade from my reseller or from Autodesk directly?

Hi Marcelo,

You would need to upgrade Smoke/Flame .. which comes with the updated server.

To clarify my original comment regarding the free upgrade, it's only free for customers with support contracts. Alternatively, you could sign onto ADN and get updated development versions (watermarked) with access to beta releases as
well.

If you're going to do any serious Wiretap work, I highly recommend the upgrade.
