    Multiple "visual styles" per viewport

Is it possible to make some objects hidden in a viewport while others are
rendered/shaded? For example; we would like to be able to set the structural
objects to "hidden" and the mechanical objects to rendered/shaded on the
mechanical sheets. Eccentially creating the same effect as lighter lines vs.
heavier lines. I've tried multiple viewports on top of each other with
different "visual styles" but you need everything to be "present" in the
viewports or objects behind won't be hidden. If you could turn "off" layers
per viewport this method would work, but not the best since you'd have two
viewports on top of each other.

Any thoughts or Ideas would be appreciated,

    I second Nathan..

I've created that effect before just rendering the whole thing, then printing a visual style "hiden" to a similarly sized file, and using layers in photoshop (GIMP for me) I can then trim away all but the mechanical, or all but structural, etc... giving the desired effect.
