Point filters not working

I posted this in the general newsgroup but no one could help...

In A2K mechanical, when one of the designers tries to enter .x or .y point
filters, acad ignores the filters and uses the last point selected. Does
anyone know the cause and cure? Only happens on one user's machine. Other
people open the same drawing and filters work correctly.

Famous advice passed down through the ages:

(a) Close and reopen AutoCAD.

(b) If (a) fials, Reboot.

(c) If (a) and (b) fail, Reinstall.

Alas, we are already at (c).

Thanks for the reply.

I am always glad to share my technical expertise.

(d) If (a), (b) and (c) fail, Reinstall OS.

(e) If (a), (b), (c) and (d) fail, sledge hammer, but only as a last resort.
It may make you feel better, but usually won't fix the problem.

Before selecting points for point filter, the .x or .y or .z or combinations, MUST be entered, as a precursor, or AutoCAD assumes ordinary point, that includes instances, when you fail to satisfy the osnap selection of the point to use, as point filter and AutoCAD askes for, another point.

Right. He enters .x, picks a point, then acad prompts for yz, he picks a
second point. Instead of getting the x value of the first point and yz of
the second, he gets the xyz of the second point. It has us baffled (and
annoyed).
