Layer Translator routine Changing Item Color

I had to change our company layer names from one name to another name.  So I setup a layer translation "dws" file and then I put a button on our toolbars to run the layer trasnlator.  However now when I run it, the routine makes all of the color overrides that I had in my model go back to the default layer color.  So if I took one line and forced the color to a lighter line in one spot this routine forces it back.  Is there anyway that I can make it not do this? Here is my routine:
