You want to have the image as part of the drawing, rather than referenced.(?) A couple
suggestions:
1. Search this newsgroup. There has been discussion of the topic.
2. Dotsoft ToolPac has a routine "BIND" that replaces the pixels with solids and makes a
block.
3. There are several image converter programs; try Google. The equation is
Quality=k*Price. The best are not very good.
4. I believe I read that 2008 can do it.

2008 can NOT embed an image.

From 2008 Help: "Images can be referenced and placed in drawing files,
but like external references (xrefs), they are not actually part of the
drawing file."
