Some Administration settings are lost during a Vault upgrade. From the most recent upgrade (2012-2013), I remember at least Working Folder and Project File settings were empty when starting the new version. There might be more.
Also, most or all of the User-specific client options get reset to defaults in both Vault Explorer and the CAD addins. The ones that are most tedious to restore include grid columns and shortcuts in VE, and prompt settings in CAD addins.
If we're going to have to do a product upgrade every year just to keep current, please make it less painful.
Not sure if this is an Inventor or Vault feature request, but when I run Place From Vault I don't want to see IDW or DWG files. They can't be placed into an assembly anyway. It's okay to see them if I'm doing Open From Vault but not Place From Vault.
Allow Vault installation/configuration to connect to an Instance not named AUTODESKVAULT
We have several separate vault servers (Professional) all connected to remate databases on an SQL cluster. The SQL people claim that they can only have one single instance called AUTODESKVAULT in their complete environment AND that instance names MUST follow their naming conventions
Actually, vault is the only software that I know of that requires a specific instance name
There should be a relatively simple option in ADMS to truncate data from the vault, or to backup just the configuration.
Doing an implementation at a publicly traded company means going to a multi-stage process (dev, test, UAT, Prod) with multiple vault environments to verify the configuration before go-live. It would be very convenient to be able to either remove all of the files from the vault to provide a clean starting point for a new environment.
Alternately, the option to backup JUST the configuration would be a huge help as well.
We have several customers who work as consultants on different sites. They need to bring their own license of Vault and they want to be able to buy their own Vault professional license and then also be abel to run the lower versions depending on what version the customer is using.
The best would be if they could borrow a license from their own server.
