SystemOption / UserOption

Storing data in system options is restricted to administrators. Why? Propably something like user options writeable for all users would be a solution.

We are developing vault explorer extensions and we often have to store data which must be available / writeable for all users.

Hi Stephen, Can you give some examples of user options that might be set by any or all users? Also, do these options apply to the individual user or applied to all users when they are changed or set?

We have implemented a licensing mechanism using system options. At the moment we use it only for the trial period (individual user / all user). But we also think of implementing a per seat licensing mechanism (all users).

I think if there is a central component (vault server), licensing should also a centralized mechanism Combining this with the app store mechanism (download, install/copy, run) I can't think of anything better then using system options.
